Background

Descending from a long line of farmers, Joseph Dujardin and his wife Henriette ran a butcher’s shop in Uccle for 14 years before moving in 1961 to another butcher’s shop, La Royale, on avenue Adolphe Buyl, Royale Dujardin’s current premises.

In 1975, Henri, the second son, assisted by his wife Élise, took over his father’s butcher’s shop and set about developing the delicatessen business and modernising the fittings.

In only a few years, the refurbished shop and the refined techniques earned him a reputation for his know-how and craftsmanship, and the efforts were crowned by several rewards at national and international level.

In 1996, after stints as an apprentice in various complementary fields, Lieven Dujardin joined the family business.

He started off by developing the “catering” activities for the general public. But before long, the demand changed, bringing this untiring chef face to face with a string of new challenges.

As for Christelle, she turned her back on a successful career in the world of taxation to take over the reins of the company in 2007 with responsibility for its day to day management.

This allowed Lieven to devote himself to what he does best: create music with his pots and pans.

Too good to be true? No, the proof of the pudding is in the eating.

A winning duet that has won many a standing ovation, both for the quality of the service... and of the products.
